WHAT MAKES YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM THE TOP PRIORITY?
I don’t want to bore you to tears with the science behind it so I’m going to keep this light and to the point.
There are just a few main things you need to recognise and understand about the nervous system.
Its evolution dates back 600 million years to the common ancestors of humans. So it’s truly
hardwired into our very being.
It basically controls your whole body and plays a humongous role in your energy levels, stress levels, motivation levels, and more.
And it dictates these things through something called neurotransmitters.
These are little brain chemicals that run around through your head and through your body…
And they tell you when to “be awake”, “be happy”, “be motivated”, “be sad”, “be sleepy”, etc.
When your neurotransmitters are working properly, everything happens the way it’s supposed to. And you experience a MUCH better quality of life.
But when they’re out of whack…
It downregulates some hormones — like testosterone — which can lead to a lowered (or non-existent) libido, and a lack of motivation and energy.
On top of that, it upregulates other hormones — like cortisol — which is responsible for stress and anxiety.
So when you try to solve these issues with caffeine, pills, potions, and drugs…
You’re just putting additional stressors on an already taxed system.
So you’re just digging yourself a deeper hole to climb out of tomorrow, next week, next month, etc.
Keep it up and eventually you’ll burn out completely… and watch helplessly as every aspect of your life crumbles around you.
But before that happens — it’s essential to hit the problem at its heart and FIX your busted nervous system right away.
Just imagine how much easier your work life and home life would be if you had boundless energy, amazing sleep and recovery, and rock-bottom stress levels.

How much easier it would be to solve little (or large) relationship problems.

On top of that, with a properly functioning nervous system, your hormones are working FOR you rather than against you.
Elevated testosterone levels will enhance your drive so you can continue to crush work and have tons of energy to spare for the other areas of your life.
You’ll have reserves in the tank to live a happier, more adventurous life, and be the amazing dad you’ve always wanted to be.

That’s truly what life will be like when you get your nervous system functioning properly.
It’s eye opening for a lot of guys when I teach them this for the first time.
But it often begs the question…
IF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM IS SO IMPORTANT, WHY DOESN’T EVERYONE TALK ABOUT IT?
The short answer?
Society simply favors sexier ideas.
We (as a whole) tend to glamorise “hustle culture.”
Think about it.
“Hustling” your ass off sounds cool. It sounds admirable. It sounds manly.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not against working hard at something with a strong purpose at your back.
But we can’t play the game so hard in the short term that it comes at the expense of being able to do it in the long term.
If you ask me, there’s nothing more admirable or manly than — not only crushing it at work and business — but crushing it for the rest of your life too.
You can only do that if you take care of yourself and make sure you’re always firing on all cylinders.
So you need to ditch the societal dogma right now… and take this next sentence to heart:
The Nervous System comes FIRST.
Recognise it as fact.
Embrace it.
Then use it to your advantage.
Got it?
Good.
Now before we move on, I need to give you a bit of a warning.
You can’t really afford to wait on this. You need to act on it now.
See, I’m not trying to scare you but…
THE LONGER YOU WAIT TO FIX YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM… THE TOUGHER IT WILL BE TO SUCCEED
If you wait too long to correct this issue, it’s possible that it becomes permanent (in that it’s nearly impossible to correct).
Because anxiety, stress, and depression have profound effects on the brain.
The Journal of Psychiatry and Neuroscience looked at more than 10,000 people to study these effects and what they found was shocking.
Prolonged exposure to these ‘negative states’ can cause your hippocampus to shrink.
That’s the part of the brain linked to memory and learning.
What’s more is…
Your amygdala — the part of your brain linked to your emotions (including the negative ones) — tends to grow in size.
This creates a feedback loop working against you.
The more time you spend stressed and anxious, the more stressed and anxious you become.
And breaking the cycle becomes increasingly more challenging the longer you let that shit play out.
Fortunately, there is a way to break the cycle and break it quickly.
It’s a system I developed that’s radically transformed my life, and the lives of 6900+ of clients I’ve helped.
It’s a process for systematically eliminating stress and anxiety, while granting you massive energy and drive.

This is the culmination of my life’s work. Without it, I’m sure I wouldn’t be where I am today.
See, back when I was 20 years old, I competed as a pro bodybuilder.
And at that time, I was top 10 in the world.
Not bad for a little 20-year-old kid who was natty.
I was crushing it, doing really really well.
But then what happened is I worked too hard. And I stressed my nervous system. (Though I didn’t know that’s what happened at the time).
I got really strung out. I was anxious and depressed, I wasn’t sleeping well, I got IBS, low testosterone, elevated cortisol and more issues than I can count.
It was a nightmare.
On top of that, I went from being top 10 in the world to literally placing last in some of my shows.

If you saw me walking down the beach, you wouldn’t even look twice at me.
I went from somebody who had a really good physique to just looking absolutely mediocre.
Now, I’m not saying you should care whether or not you look like a pro bodybuilder… but having a jacked up nervous system plays a role in how you look as well.
(Maybe you’ve noticed it’s easier to pack on some extra fat when you’re stressed out).
For me, at the time, my physique was crazy important to me… so I was definitely having a rough go of it.
But I can honestly say, despite my struggles at the time, I wouldn’t take back the experience for anything…
Because it’s what caused me to dive deep into how the body works… and discover just how important it is to take care of your nervous system.
I learned all that I could about how to adjust it back to proper function.
And from that point everything changed.
I got myself back on track and feeling on top of the world again. And because I really wanted to help other guys do the same, I kept the research going.
I took things to the next level, and expanded on the model.
The final product is the Hierarchy of Health. (pictured below)
The Hierarchy of Health is separated into the major categories you can focus on to improve stress, anxiety, energy, motivation, sleep, mood and more.
And it prioritises fixing things in the best order for optimal positive results.
The 3 main categories in order are:
1. The Nervous System
2. Hormones + Digestion
3. The Immune System
After that, you have everything that’s left over (The Rest).
The Nervous System comes first and sits at the base of the hierarchy. It’s the biggest piece. It’s the most important. It’s the first thing I help my clients fix and optimise.
That’s because it can have the greatest impact. It’s the thing that — once corrected — makes everything else easier when it comes to your stress, anxiety, energy, motivation, sleep, mood, and well-being.
Contrast that to the standard advice…
...Which all falls into this top bit.“The rest.” The least important part of it all.
Things people say like, “You just need to get more sleep” or “ You should hit the gym more often and you’ll have more energy” or “Just drink some more coffee.”
But you know damn well you’re sleeping like shit (even when you try to get more)... You barely have enough energy for work, let alone extra for the gym… and you’re already slamming down coffee like it’s water.
But the Hierarchy of Health focuses on what’s actually important and addresses the root cause.
And when you fix things in the proper order… you’re always working on the piece that can have the most impact.
See, when we start with the Nervous System, we’re working to correct the majority of the issues right from the get go.
You’ll notice dramatic changes in how you feel with that step alone.
Plus, the nervous system has a positive “rollover effect” on your hormones and digestion. (See the image).
I’ve already talked about how your nervous system can influence your hormones.
Specifically, that a taxed nervous system can lead to lowered testosterone, and raised cortisol levels.
Now, let’s look at digestion too because it’s REALLY important.
The digestive tract is the barrier between the outside world and the inside of us.
If that bad boy’s not working, we’re getting heaps of bugs and inflammatory molecules coming into our bloodstream and directly affecting us.
And whenever our nervous system is taxed a few things start to happen with our digestion.
One — Our stomach contracts.
Two — Intestines contract.
Three — We start getting things like constipation, diarrhea, reflux and gas. (Do you really want to deal with any of that on top of other issues?)
What’s more is, whenever your digestion is off, it’s waaay easier to get sick. 70% of your immune system exists in your digestive tract.
And getting sick is the last thing you need if you’re already dealing with low energy.
So it’s absolutely ESSENTIAL that we get it sorted.
Next let’s look at…
The Immune System is the thing that actually goes and regulates how your body responds to stress and damage.
And if you want to remain at your peak, it’s essential that you have a strong and healthy immune system.
Implementing The Hierarchy of Health pretty much guarantees you will.
Because the nervous system directly regulates your immune system… and so do your hormones and digestion. So the “rollover effect” starts to compound. (see pics below).
